Reflection Statement for Experimental Sculpture Collection
The three sculptures visually communicate the relationship between texture, form, and emotion. While exploring the materials to build the sculptures, I wanted to focus on contrasting organic and geometric shapes because this juxtaposition creates a dynamic tension that evokes curiosity and engagement. I decided to include varied textures such as smooth plaster, rough wire mesh, and natural fibers to amplify the tactile quality of the sculptures.
I felt the work was not producing the desired results regarding cohesion between the elements, so I adjusted by integrating a unifying element—subtle color washes that tie the textures and forms together.
